YOUR GREATEST ANCHOR

"Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil."

— Hebrews 6:19

An anchor has one clear purpose: to keep a ship steady during storms. When strong winds blow and waves rise, the safety of the ship does not depend on the weather but on the strength of its anchor. In the same way, the believer’s life is kept steady not by good circumstances, strong emotions, or human help, but by our hope in Christ.

Life is full of challenges. There are seasons of trials, moments of uncertainty, and times of opposition. Jesus Himself said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation” (John 16:33). This tells us that storms are part of life. However, our confidence is not in avoiding storms, but in being anchored during them. Christ adds, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Biblical hope is not guessing or wishing things will get better. It is strong confidence in God and His promises. The Bible says, “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). God’s Word does not change, even when our feelings do. When emotions rise and fall, hope in Christ remains firm.

Hebrews teaches that this hope goes “within the veil”—into God’s presence itself. Jesus has already gone there for us (Hebrews 6:19-20). This means our anchor is not tied to this changing world, but to heaven, where nothing can shake it.

So when life feels unstable, do not hold on to fear or people alone. Hold on to Christ. “Hope thou in God” (Psalm 42:11). With Christ as your anchor, your soul will remain steady until the storm passes.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my anchor. Help me to trust in Christ and not in my feelings or circumstances. I place my hope in You alone. Keep my heart steady through every storm. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
