THE WORD CLEANSES
"Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you."
— John 15:3
In our humanity, we are inherently unclean. This uncleanness is expressed through sin, shame, reproach, sickness, ungodliness, and other afflictions, It originates from the fallen nature of man and is not of God. These impurities have no place in Christ, who is pure and holy in every way.
However, there is hope. Only the Word of God possesses the power to cleanse and purify us from all defilement. As Scriptures declare, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word” (Ephesians 5:26).
The Word of God is a divine cleansing agent, able to wash away every form of impurity when we come into deep, personal intimacy with it. It is not enough to merely hear or read the Word; we must allow it to dwell richly within us, transforming our hearts and renewing our minds. God’s Word carries sanctifying power for anyone who embraces its truth. As Jesus prayed in John 17:17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
One of the profound truths revealed in God’s Word is the promise of new life in Christ—a life free from every trace of sin and its consequences. This newness of life removes all that is not of God and restores us to the original state of purity and righteousness intended by our Creator.
When we allow the Word to take root in our lives, it becomes a continuous source of cleansing, renewal, and transformation, ensuring that nothing contrary to God’s will finds a place in us. As a result, our fruits also become godly.
