LIVING FOR CHRIST

"For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity]."

— PHILIPPIANS 1:21 (AMP)

Apostle Paul reveals that Christ was the very center of his life. While he was in prison and facing an uncertain future, he boldly declared that his whole reason for living was Jesus.

“To live is Christ” means that every part of our lives, our thoughts, actions, decisions, and desires reflect Him. Christ becomes our purpose, our message, and our strength. As Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” Living for Christ means we no longer live for ourselves, but for His glory (2 Corinthians 5:15). Our ambitions, relationships, and daily choices must point back to Him.

“To die is gain” shows Paul’s confidence in eternal life. Death was not something to fear because it meant being with Christ (Philippians 1:23). For a believer, whether in life or death, we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8). This assurance gives us boldness, and peace, even in difficult seasons.

Living for Christ is not merely about attending church or listening to sermons. It is about daily surrender. It is choosing obedience over sin—just like Joseph, who chose prison over momentary pleasure when he refused the advances of Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:9). He would rather suffer for righteousness than enjoy the deceitful pleasure of sin and call it favor.

A life centered on Christ is a life of true fulfillment and eternal reward. When Christ is our focus, our lives carry eternal value.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the grace to live for Christ each day. Let my thoughts, words, and actions reflect Jesus, and teach me to surrender fully to You. May my life continually bring glory to Your Name, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
