RESOLVED FOR GOD
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
— JOSHUA 24:15.
Joshua gathered Israel and gave them a choice. He did not pressure them; he simply placed the decision before them. Joshua had seen God’s faithfulness—from the wilderness to the walls of Jericho. He had witnessed battles, victories, and divine intervention. His conclusion was clear: serving the Lord is not a burden. To be resolved for God means your heart is settled, your loyalty unshakable, and your devotion not negotiable.
Joseph’s life illustrates this truth. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and falsely accused, he could have grown bitter or compromised. Yet he still stood, saying, “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9). Even in prison, God was with him, and his steadfast faith led to promotion (Genesis 41:41).
Daniel is another example. Living under the pressure of a foreign culture filled with idolatry, he purposed in his heart not to defile himself (Dan.1:8). When a royal decree forbade prayer, Daniel continued to pray openly, trusting God with his life (Dan 6:10). God honored his resolve by shutting the lions’ mouths (Dan 6:22).
Joseph remained faithful in hidden seasons; Daniel remained faithful under public scrutiny. Both show that a resolved heart honors God regardless of circumstances.
Be resolved today, not half-hearted, occasional, or seasonal, but fully and firmly for God. Set your heart, declare your loyalty, and let God strengthen you to stand in every season.
