STRENGTH OF MERCY
"So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy."
— ROMANS 9:16
The mercy system of God remains a divine mystery. It's a force that transcends human logic and effort. It is not triggered by merit, background, or human skill, but by the sovereign choice of God. Mercy, when activated, releases dimensions of grace that no natural ability can produce.
When the mercy of God is upon a person, supernatural speed replaces delay, unusual favour overrides rejection, divine strength takes the place of weakness, mighty works become natural outcomes, and uncommon wisdom distinguishes the believer.
Our very salvation is the first and most powerful evidence of God's mercy. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." We did not earn salvation; it was mercy that reached out to us, grace that picked us up, and faith that made it real in our lives.
Even our daily victories are not because we are strong, wise, or fast but because mercy is speaking on our behalf. As 1 Samuel 2:9 declares, "He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail." Mercy speaks where effort ends. Lam. 3:22-23 reminds us, "It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
His mercy does not expire. It is fresh each day, empowering, protecting, and lifting us.
