GOD’S COMMENDED LOVE

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

— ROMANS 5:8

As we journey in this new year, it is vital to remind ourselves of the unchanging reality of God’s love. Romans 5:8 tells us that God’s love is not conditional on our performance or righteousness—it is a gift, freely extended even when we were undeserving. This love is not only an emotional comfort; it is a believer’s greatest spiritual asset. It secures our identity, shapes our perspective, and fuels our confidence/courage to face whatever the new year may hold.

God’s love transforms us from the inside out. As 1 John 4:19 says, “We love him, because he first loved us.” We are not just recipients of love; we become channels of His love to others. His love strengthens our hope (Romans 5:5) and sustains us in trials, reminding us that nothing can separate us from His affection (Romans 8:38–39). In this year, let us live in the security of His love rather than our human uncertainty. Let us start each day remembering that our life is built on God’s unchanging love, not on our feelings or what we do.

This year, claim God’s love as your spiritual asset. Let it guide your decisions, shape your life, and still your soul in times of storm. Remember, the same love that sent Christ to the cross for you is active today, providing strength, wisdom, and peace.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing Your love to me even when I was undeserving. I rest in this love as my strength and security, trusting that I am cherished, accepted, and held by You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
